Active Patrol Breaching Kit The EdgeBender is a cleverly designed and very effective security-plate bypass tool. The MiniRam can be used as a door ram or a striking tool with the MultiBreacher. The MultiBreacher is effective against security doors, fire doors and wooden doors. At the top of the list is the Active Patrol Breaching Kit. This comes with two tools: the MultiSledge and the MultiPry. This kit is one of the lightest mechanical breaching kits available. It is ideal for deployment in patrol cars, emergency services, warrant teams or wherever immediate access is required. In just a short training period, an operator will be able to open outwardand inward-opening wooden doors, steel doors, security doors and windows. The MultiSledge is four entry tools in one: a multi-directional hammer, a break 'n rake tool, a claw pry bar, and a ram. The "break 'n rake" feature allows the operator to shatter all types of windows. The rake tool pulls glass shards out of the window frame. The claw pry end is used in conjunction with the MultiPry Tool to assist opening of reinforced, inward opening doors. The MultiSledge brings with it weight which is not common in traditional break'n-rake breaching tools. That said, I would have liked to see the MultiSledge made a little heavier and longer for the SWAT side of breaching. The MultiSledge steel shaft provides the strength to open doors without any of the spring tension into the tool. The MultiPry is a small and lightweight tool with a special head designed to be used with the MultiSledge to open all types of inward and outward swinging doors. The TacForged™ steel, serrated duckbill head and pry claw design of the head gives good bite, good case displacement, and little slippage for maximum mechanical advantage. The hydraulic pipe steel handle makes the tool both strong. The MultiPry is a pry, not a hooligan tool with the point off to the side, which has stabbed me in the back when trying to sling it. One downside: the MultiPry tool has very little weight on the top, forcing you to use more effort to break the middle support on windows. Again, a little more weight would make a better tool. The tools are very lightweight and designed with all sizes of offcers in mind. One really nice aspect: These are not a standard or modifed freman's tools. They are truly police tools made for police work. Both tools come with sling attachment points that provide offcers the ability to carry the tools individually. The Active Patrol Breaching Kit comes with a 1050D nylon case called the Lite Kit Bag. This is a secure, simple stowage bag The Active Shooter Breaching Kit is made up of the MultiSledge and MultiPry. The MultiSledge is four tools in one: hammer, break-rake, pry bar and ram. The MultiPry can be used on inward and outward swinging doors. www.lawandordermag.com 13
