ON THE JOB NEWS DISCIPLINE JUST HANDED DOWN SOCIAL MEDIA RANGEMASTER MISSION CRITICAL SYSTEMS News Agencies Choose Spillman for Shared Access to Agency Records and Field Reporting FBI CJIS Security Policy Helps Tiburon Clients Using Tablets to Perform NCIC Queries SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Twenty-two public safety agencies purchased software from Spillman Technologies for the first time during the second quarter of 2013, joining the more than 1,000 public safety agencies in 37 states nationwide already using Spillman software. In addition to the new agencies, 62 agencies expanded their existing Spillman systems. In Maine, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department will host a shared system with 10 new Spillman agencies within the county, consolidating the most populous county in Maine with a single public safety software solution to serve its nearly 300,000 residents. The Lawrence Police Department in Kansas is equipping its field personnel with Spillman's mobile software, giving officers access to agency records on the road from vehiclemounted laptops. Field personnel will have the ability to search name, vehicle, and incident records within their Spillman database, including searches based on aliases, previous known addresses, or distinguishing marks. They can also view relationships using Spillman's interactive Visual Involvements® feature. In Utah, the West Valley City Police Department purchased the Spillman Touch® module, which provides updates directly to officers on iPhones, Android phones, iPads, or other tablets. Field agents can use the module to perform real-time searches for names, vehicles, properties, and incident records while on the go. SAN RAMON, CA – Tiburon, Inc. announced that the recent version 5.2 update to the FBI CJIS Security Policy now provides an approved method for the Company's iPad, Android and Windows 8 tablet users to conduct queries of criminal justice information (e.g., NCIC queries) in accordance with FBI Policy. The new Security Policy provides expanded guidelines for the use of tablet devices (e.g., iPads®, Android® tablets Windows 8® tablets). One of the most notable additions to the policy revolves around the use of Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems. Public safety agencies should consult with their State CJIS officials regarding the impact of the new FBI Policy on State requirements, but one of Tiburon's clients has already received clearance from their state officials to run NCIC queries from the Tiburon Mobility Solution for the iPad as long as they comply with the MDM and other requirements of the new FBI Policy Baltimore County Police Selects FN Pistol As Service Firearm MCLEAN, VA – FNH USA, LLC announced that the Baltimore County Police Department has selected the new FN FNS™-40 LS (long slide) as their service firearm to be carried by on-duty police officers.
