By LAW and ORDER Staff Chrysler VP Grady, Mayor Breretion and Chief Noble check out the fully upfitted, fully marked Dodge Dart. The Dart was built at the Belvidere Assembly Plant. The Chrysler Group recently provided the Belvidere, Ill. Police with a 2013 Dodge Dart for a long-term evaluation. The fully marked, fully upft Dart Rallye will be used as the fagship for a variety of civic events, ceremonies, parades, city gatherings, county fair and other public festivals���any opportunity to show the pride of the area���s largest employer. The Dart is assembled at the Belvidere Assembly Plant. ���The Belvidere Police Department wanted to drive what���s built in their town by their own citizens,��� said Peter Grady, Vice President of Network Development & Fleet, Chrysler Group LLC. ���This was a terrifc opportunity to support the Belvidere police and continue to foster our longtime partnership with this city and region.��� The Dart was upftted with the newest Whelen lightbar, the allLED Legacy. The Dart also got enough Whelen ION��� and Vertex��� LEDs to completely light up the grille, outside mirrors and 60 LAW and ORDER I December 2012 headlight ��� taillight bezels. The upft was performed by technicians at the Chicago-based Beverly Hills Garage. Jack Wolf Chrysler Jeep Dodge, the local Dodge dealer, is on board to provide no charge, lifetime maintenance for the police Dart. The Belvidere Police Department will provide Chrysler Group with feedback on the uses for this test vehicle. That feedback will be used to determine whether a non-patrol Dodge Dart police vehicle could be marketed to other law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. Typically, 20 percent of the police feet is made up of admin vehicles that may not need to be pursuit-rated. In its frst ceremonial function, the Belvidere Police Dart was used to escort a procession from the Belvidere Assembly Plant to the Belvidere ��� Boone County Food Pantry. Chrysler Group employees across the Midwest took time out from building cars and trucks to make sure their neighbors have the means to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner.
