More often than not, law enforcement agencies do not have the budgets to provide vests for K9 officers—which cost around $1,000 each— leaving police dogs unprotected while helping to fight crime. Vested Interest in K9s is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing bullet and stab protective vests to police organizations nationwide. Since 2009, the nonprofit organization has provided 375 vests. PetArmor's® initial donation will result in vested dogs in Austin, Texas, as well as Jupiter and Riviera Beach, Fla. PetArmor® also plans to announce an additional K-9 vest donation as part of their 2013 commitment. The K9 vests, manufactured by Armor Express, are custom sized for maximum comfort and mobility.
